Job description

The position as a GM, Gyttorp is overall responsible for all aspects of manufacturing on site, deliver safety, cost, culture, and physical infrastructure improvements.
You report to the Manufacturing Executives IS and have personnel responsibility for 9 direct reports, 250 through subordinates and 70 reports with dotted line
This role is accountable for all activities at site management within a complex technology environment and an increasingly high degree of automation.
Focus is on Safety, Health & Environment, including community & governmental relations. Besides Risk Management, other priorities are Quality Management and the ability to understand business and customer requirements and needs. This requires a strong business acumen, but also strong interpersonal skills & people management skills alongside cultural sensitivity and awareness within an international working environment.

Key Tasks

• Continuous improvement in Manufacturing Basis of Safety, and compliance thereof
• Demonstrate and role model safe behaviours
• Comply with SHEC Charter
• Ensure SHEC plans are developed and executed, including process safety activities
• Operate and maintain equipment to maximise Uptime
• Eliminate causes of unreliability.
• Implement best equipment practices
• Reduce unit cash cost through continuous improvement in unit fixed and variable cost.
• Minimise delivered cost through working well with Supply Chain to optimise the use of manufacturing capacity
• Automate and standardise processes
• Member of Manufacturing & Supply Chain team & regular interaction with Regional Management
• Develop talent
• Performance Management processes in place to communicate expectations and feedback on performance
• Establish people plans at all sites to cover training, development, key succession
• Execute projects applying Orica Project Process
• Deliver Project benefits
• As site manager work actively with key external stakeholders

Education and Experience

Formal tertiary qualification in engineering or science discipline is required.
Minimum experience of 10 years in a manufacturing industry
